Betting  events of the day…

There are now two college football games tonight, Kansas vs. South Florida and Washington State vs. Baylor, which was bumped up because of the horrible situation in Houston and Galveston, Texas.

Get the exclusive news and notes and official gamblers preview for the two Friday NCAA football games. The well-earned hubris of GodsTips means there is no question who to bet on in tonight’s games with the best football picks in the world.

GodsTips enters this season on a 55-25 Game of the Year tear in football (20-6 last season), an amazing stat considering how most sports gamblers and sports services had a horrific year betting last football season.

Just added: an MLB Wise Guy and four Majors in addition to both football sides.  North Carolina starts the week off with another ho-hum winner. GodsTips has had winning weeks 5-of-6 in football and is now 18-8 the last two weeks. Click now to purchase both Friday night sides and why don’t you have at least the four-day pass?

Event of the day . . .

Webb won his 19th game of the year on August 21, tossing seven scoreless innings against the Padres and giving up just three hits. In his past three outings, though, the right-hander has been rocked for 19 earned runs on 22 hits over just 13 2-3 innings.

That stretch was doubly painful for Webb (19-7, 3.41 ERA) – he was beaten twice by the rival Dodgers to hurt the D-Backs’ playoff chances, and his stats took a big hit and knocked him down a peg in the Cy Young race. He’ll attempt to get back on track on Friday when he gets the ball at home for the D-Backs in their game against the Reds.

Cincinnati is expected to send Aaron Harang (4-15, 5.18 ERA) to the mound on Friday, and he’s gone just 1-4 with a no-decision in six starts since returning from the disabled list in early August. The righthander gave up three earned runs on six hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Sunday, walking three and fanning five.

Non-event of the day . . .

The Marlins were in contention for a playoff spot over the first half of the season, but since then they’ve fallen way off the pace in both the NL East and the NL Wild Card standings. Florida will send Scott Olsen (6-10, 4.41 ERA) to the hill on Friday night to take on Shairon Martis (0-1, 3.60) and the basement-dwelling Nationals.

Also on the schedule . . .

Other National League games on tap for Friday include St. Louis at Pittsburgh, Atlanta at the Mets, the Dodgers at Colorado, and San Francisco at San Diego. As well, it’s Manny Parra (10-7, 4.03 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels (12-9, 3.12 ERA) in the key Brewers/Phillies clash.

The Angels have now clinched top spot in the AL West, but they’ll still be gunning for the best record in the American League when they send out Joe Saunders (15-7, 3.64 ERA) to face Seattle’s Ryan Rowland-Smith (4-2, 3.61 ERA) on Friday. Rounding out the AL slate: Minnesota at Baltimore, Toronto at Boston, Kansas City at Cleveland, Tampa Bay at the Yankees, Detroit at the White Sox, and Texas at Oakland.

There are two games on the Canadian Football League’s schedule for Friday – Winnipeg at Toronto (-2.5), and Montreal at Calgary (-2.5). As well, there’s a battle of ranked teams on the college gridiron, with No. 13 Kansas at No. 19 South Florida. The Bulls are pegged as 3.5-point favorites in that game against the visiting Jayhawks.

Finally, there are three WNBA games on tap for Friday, with Phoenix at Minnesota, New York at Chicago, and Atlanta at Seattle. The WNBA’s regular season concludes on Sunday, with the league’s playoffs starting up next week.

News from the wire . . .

White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko has been diagnosed with a sprained knee, and is listed as day-to-day . . . Quarterbacks Jeff Garcia, Brodie Croyle, and Vince Young will all be out of action for Week 2.
