The New Jersey Nets and the Charlotte Bobcats will both be trying to pick up a win on Saturday when they battle at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Emerald Bowl: Miami vs. California Preview

The Miami Hurricanes lost their final two games of the season on the road, finishing at 7-5 and settling for the Emerald Bowl. Cal finished with a flourish, two emphatic home covers and they will both be gunning for a victory December 27 when take on the Canes at AT&T Park.
Oddsmakers currently have the Golden Bears listed as 10½-point favorites versus the Hurricanes, while the game’s total is sitting at 51.
Jacory Harris and Robert Marve both threw for one touchdown and two interceptions for Miami as they lost 38-28 to North Carolina State in Week 14.

Jahvid Best rushed for a school-record 311 yards and four touchdowns for California in a 48-7 victory over Washington in Week 15.

Champs Sports Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Florida State Preview

Two teams that had higher hopes in 2008 than the Champs Sports Bowl will hook up Dec. 27 at Florida Citrus Bowl. Wisconsin Badgers (7-5) of the Big Ten and the ACC’s Florida State Seminoles (8-4) will both be gunning for a bowl victory to soothe a disappointing season.
Oddsmakers currently have the Seminoles listed as 6-point favorites versus the Badgers, while the game’s total is sitting at 52.
Wisconsin needed overtime to beat Cal Poly 36-35 in their regular-season finale. Dustin Sherer had one TD strike and one interception in that game.
Drew Weatherford could only total 62 yards passing, while Jermaine Thomas rushed for one TD and 37 yards as Florida State lost 45-15 to Florida in Week 14.
The Seminoles did not cover the 17-point spread, while the combined score played OVER the posted total of 53.5.

Meineke Bowl: West Virginia vs. North Carolina Preview

Pat White will be looking for 81 rushing yards to set a personal mark while he tries to get his West Virginia Mountaineers past North Carolina December 27 in the Meineke Bowl. The game between a pair of 8-4 teams is a veritable home game for UNC as it’s played at nearby Bank of America Stadium.
Oddsmakers currently have the Mountaineers listed as 2-point favorites versus the Tar Heels, while the game’s total is sitting at 46.
West Virginia accumulated less total yards, but managed to sneak past South Florida 13-7 in their regular-season finale. West Virginia failed to cover the 7-point spread, while the 20 points fell well UNDER the posted total of 47.
Pat White threw for 140 yards with a touchdown, and Pat McAfee booted two field goals over 40 yards in the win.
A near-perfect T.J. Yates threw three touchdown passes, and Trimane Goddard intercepted a pass in the closing seconds to seal a 28-20 win for North Carolina over Duke in Week 14.

The San Jose Sharks entered the Christmas break with a league-leading mark of 27-4-3, and they’ll be back in action on Saturday night with a road game in St. Louis against the Blues. The Sharks blanked the Vancouver Canucks 5-0 in their last game, while the Blues continued their sliding ways with a 4-1 loss to Detroit.

A busy Saturday night has 10 other games on the ice, including Montreal at Pittsburgh and New Jersey at the Rangers. Florida Atlantic-Central Michigan Gambling Preview

Here is the official betting preview of Florida Atlantic and Central Michigan. While professional gamblers are utilizing the elite sports picks, we have all the information a handicapper needs for the Motor City Bowl.

Florida Atlantic is 6-6 straight up winning 5-of-6 to enter the bowl betting season. They have covered three of their last four going under 8-of-12 this season.

Central Michigan is 8-4 straight up but enters the postseason with two straight losses both against the spread and straight up. They also have gone over 3-of-4.

The Owls have numbers amazingly similar to what their foes cumulative average says they should be. The one exception is that they get 7.3 yards per pass against teams normally allowing 6.9.

They face a Chippewas team that allows 7.8 yards per pass teams normally getting 7.1.

Sportsbooks have CMU as a seven-point favorite with a total of 68.5. However, shop around as the oddsmakers total varies.

The Chippewas are 1-3 straight up all-time in bowls. FAU averages 35 points per game in their final six games following a 1-5 straight up start to the year.

Florida Atlantic’s coach Howard Schnellenberger is 5-0 straight up all-time in bowl games.

Here are some betting trends, all records are against the spread. The Owls are 5-0 after allowing more than 40 points per game. Central Michigan is 9-1 off ATS loss. They are 30-13 overall.

Central Michigan has gone under 9-1 as a favorite of 3.5-10 but over 10-2 off straight up loss. FAU has gone under 6-0 as an underdog.

Other Notable Events

The Celtics follow up their Christmas Day clash with the Lakers with a Friday night contest in Golden State. The Warriors have lost two games in a row and seven of their past 10 outings to see their season record fade to a miserable 8-22.

There are nine other games on the NBA’s schedule for Friday night, including a marquee Western matchup between the Mavericks and Jazz in Utah. As well, it’s Chicago at Miami, Charlotte at New Jersey, Minnesota at New York, Houston at New Orleans, Oklahoma City at Detroit, Indiana at Memphis, and Philadelphia at Denver, while Toronto will continue their western trip with a game in Sacramento.

The National Hockey League returns with nine games on Friday night, including Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on the road against the New Jersey Devils.
