UFC 96 odds – Jardine Wants Respect

As we approach the Rampage vs Jardine odds , it seems the Dean of Mean gets no respect. Can you blame fight fans and fellow UFC fighters alike for not getting too excited over Keith Jardine (14-5-1)? For one, everyone hates the apparition growing from his chin. Secondly, considering that he’s known as a striker, Jardine sure has trouble knocking people out. He doesn’t seem to be what the UFC advertises him to be, so it’s no wonder online betting fans don’t seem to trust him at the sportsbook. Heading into his battle against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Jardine is a +240 underdog against Rampage.

It’s hard to argue against Rampage as the favorite (-300). He’s a world-class fighter (29-7 record), having held the UFC heavyweight title and beaten Chuck Liddell (twice), Dan Henderson and, most recently, Wanderlei Silva in a vicious knockout. Rampage has the advantage in virtually every category—he’s a better wrestler, has a stronger chin and has more knockout power than Jardine. But is Rampage, like many online betting fans, underestimating Jardine? He reportedly turned down a title shot against Rashad Evans so he could “tune up” against Jardine first. If that doesn’t motivate the Dean of Mean in the Rampage vs Jardine odds, nothing can.

Jardine’s secret weapon is his ability to beat counterpunchers. He took down Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell and actually poses a sneakily difficult matchup for Rampage. Those who bet on UFC could do worse if they felt like picking a big sportsbook underdog in the UFC 96 betting lines. Overall, Rampage is still the safer bet. He’s stronger and more experienced than Jardine; he’s also smart enough to change his strategy and catch Jardine off guard. History suggests that walking forward is the way to beat the Dean of Mean (and badly—aggressive fighters like Silva and Houston Alexander demolished him that way), so online betting fans shouldn’t be surprised if Rampage tries exactly that this Saturday.

American Idol 2009 and Dancing With the Stars Vegas Odds Are Posted

One of the world’s top sportsbooks has finally posted the betting odds for American Idol 2009, Dancing With the Stars Vegas line and the odds on So You Think You Can Dance. The Vegas betting odds have been an outstanding precursor not only who will likely win, but the probable eventual finalists.

Matt Giraud is next at +1000, Alexis Grace +1200 and Anoop Desai +1400. “A lot of money came in on Alexis Grace,” reports Bob Warner of Lines-Maker.com.

Given little change according to the American Idol oddsmakers are Anne Marie Boskovich, Jasmine Murray, Stevie Wright, Kristen McNamara, Jackie Tohn, Stephen Fowler, Von Smith and the others.

March Madness bettors are checking out ScoresOddsPicks.com but Dancing With the Stars fans are analyzing the Vegas odds at BetUs Sportsbook.

Shawn Johnson is the Dancing With the Stars one to beat say the sportsbooks at +150. Chuck Wicks is next at +450, Gilles Marini +550, Lawrence Taylor at +700, Denise Richards +750 and Jewel at +850.

Sports Betting, Plus American Idol Odds on Heels of The Bachelor

It’s square root day and there is no question that the root of being squares in sports betting is gamblers who bet without the expert advice of the world’s top sports handicappers.  We agree with CNBC’s Jim Kramer of Mad Money, the stock market is a reckless gamble. We will add March Madness betting is a wise investment.

Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Suns head east to meet the Magic, the ACC hogs the college hoops spotlight, and the NHL offers up a dozen contests.

Tipping off on the hardwood  . . .

The Suns will be looking to get a road win against one of the East’s best teams on Tuesday when they take on the Magic in Orlando. Phoenix is coming off an impressive 118-111 home win over the Lakers, with Shaquille O’Neal pouring in 33 points against his old team. Steve Nash sat out with a sprained ankle. The Magic knocked off the Sixers 106-100 in their last game on Saturday, with Hedo Turkoglu picking up 23 points. Rashard Lewis added 23 points as well in the win.

The Lakers will try to get back on track later on Tuesday night when they host lowly Memphis, while Sacramento will get a visit from Indiana in the other California contest. Earlier in the night it’ll be Chicago at Charlotte, Denver at Detroit, New Jersey at Milwaukee, and Golden State at Minnesota. As well, the Rockets, who are 8-2 in their past 10 outings, will play at home against Toronto.

The march toward Madness . . .

There are three big ACC matchups on the college hoops schedule for Tuesday night, with Virginia at Clemson, Wake Forest at Maryland, and Florida State at Duke. The Blue Devils knocked off Virginia Tech 72-65 in their last game, as Kyle Singler and Gerald Henderson each tossed in 21 points. Duke is now 24-5 straight-up on the season, and 14-13-1 against-the-spread. Florida State beat Clemson 73-66 on Saturday, and they’re at 22-7 SU and 15-7-1 ATS this season.

Michigan State plays Indiana in Bloomington on Tuesday night, while Gonzaga and Washington will both host unheralded opponents; South Carolina Upstate is at Gonzaga, while Seattle visits Washington. As well, conference tournaments get underway on Tuesday, with opening-round matchups for both the Horizon League and the Ohio Valley Conference; those continue for the rest of the week.

Sports headlines…

The news is bad from around the world. The Coast Guard is still searching for NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith. Rescued Nick Schuyler said the boat capsized….Gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka‘s cricket team in Lahore yesterday.

Entertainment betting…

While reality TV fanatics on Facebook lambaste worms Wife Swap’s Stephen Fowler and the Bacholar’s Jason Mesnick for his bait and switch treatment of Melissa Rycroft remaining with Molly Malaney, gamblers are celebrating the fact that the American Idol Vegas line is out. Lines-Maker.com  will later today break down the entertainment and political betting odds have Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert the initial favorites. Steam bets though have been placed on Alice Grace, Felicia Barton and Allison Iraheta.

Taking a trip around the rink . . .

The NHL offers up a dozen games on Tuesday night as the league approaches its Wednesday trade deadline. Highlighting the early part of the slate is an Eastern clash between the Flyers and Bruins in Boston. Philadelphia is 6-3-1 in their past 10 games, but they’ve dropped consecutive decisions to the Canadiens and Devils. Boston is struggling on a 3-4-3 run, and they lost to the Caps 4-3 in overtime on Saturday; the Bruins went 1-0-1 against the Flyers back in February.

Atlanta will host Florida on Tuesday, with Carolina at Washington, Los Angeles at Columbus, Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay, Calgary at Ottawa, New Jersey at Toronto, Edmonton at Nashville, Detroit at St. Louis, and Anaheim at Chicago. Out on the west coast the Wild will be in Vancouver for a game against the Canucks, while the Sharks will be looking to grab a victory versus the Stars at home in San Jose.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

College hoops conference tournaments will elevate many schools from bubble teams to March Madness participants, but it’s a tourney lock that’s pegged as the big Vegas favorite to win it all right now. North Carolina is listed at 17/10 odds to win this year’s championship, as they sit ahead of Connecticut (5/1), Pittsburgh (6/1), and Louisville (10/1) on that list. Duke and Oklahoma both hold down 12/1 odds heading into the final week of college basketball’s regular season, with UCLA at 15/1, and Wake Forest at 18/1. Always-popular Gonzaga is back at 40/1.
