Baseball Odds – Wednesday MLB betting picks

Bethpage Black beckons as the US Open odds have almost arrived, but we still need to kill some time before then. Interleague play continues in MLB betting, so why not make some picks for Wednesday’s games? Let’s have a look.

Angels Giants odds
Wednesday, June 17, 3:45 PM ET
Matt Palmer (6-0, 4.11) vs Tim Lincecum (6-1, 2.66)

You may think you have a beauty upset pick for this Wednesday matinee, but betting management requires deep research if you really want to succeed. Look closer at the numbers; yes, Matt Palmer is 6-0, but how did he achieve that mark? He’s allowed four or more runs in five of his eight starts this season but has an amazing 9.5 runs of support from his offense in his six wins. Translation: he’s frigginlucky. Something tells me the Angels won’t score as much when they face Tim Lincecum Wednesday. He’s as dominant as ever and his home ERA (2.41) is even lower than his already-low overall ERA. With Torii Hunter also nursing an injury, the Angels’ MLB odds don’t look so hot.

MLB betting pick: Giants

Blue Jays Phillies odds
Wednesday, June 17, 7:05 p.m. ET
Scott Richmond (4-3, 3.90) vs Jamie Moyer (4-5, 6.11)

The Jays are falling fast, but they’ll latch onto an outstretched branch Wednesday night—a withered branch named Jamie Moyer. Everything about Moyers‘ numbers suggest he’ll be absolutely bombed—namely, the career averages of Marco Scutaro (.379), Vernon Wells (.342), Lyle Overbay (.462) and Aaron Hill (.375) against him. While his game log suggests he’s turning things around, he still gets rocked at home—he’s allowed nine homers in 33 innings this season. Scott Richmond continues to hang in there for the Jays and, while I wouldn’t be surprised if Howard, Utley and Ibanez take him for a ride, he should get oodles of run support. The Jays will likely be sportsbook underdogs, so they make for solid MLB picks.
