Clashing in the Senior Circuit . . .

Tim Lincecum (9-2, 2.23 ERA) will be gunning for a double-digit win total on Thursday night as his Giants host the rival Padres and Josh Geer (1-3, 5.46 ERA). Righthander Lincecum is coming off two consecutive shutout performances, allowing just five hits over 16 innings in wins versus the Astros and Cardinals. Righthander Geer has given up three or fewer earned runs in each of his last four starts, but is just 0-1 with three no-decisions over that span.

Elsewhere around the National League on Thursday it’ll be Cincinnati at Philadelphia, the Dodgers at the Mets, Washington at Houston, Atlanta at Colorado, Florida at Arizona, and St. Louis at Milwaukee. The Cardinals will go with Joel Pineiro (6-9, 3.39 ERA) in their matinee road matchup, while the Brewers will send Braden Looper (7-4, 4.78 ERA) to the hill. Righthander Looper has won two straight starts, giving up three earned runs in his last 12 1-3 innings.

Finally, there are two games on the WNBA’s schedule for Thursday night, with Sacramento at Seattle and Los Angeles at New York.
