Also on the American League schedule to close out the week: Tampa Bay at Toronto, Texas at Kansas City, Minnesota at the Angels, Cleveland at Seattle, the White Sox at Detroit, and Baltimore at Boston. Roaring around the track . . .

The Sprint Cup Series hits the track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Series points leader Tony Stewart is pegged as the 5/1 Vegas favorite to take the checkered flag on Sunday, with Jimmie Johnson at 6/1, Mark Martin at 7/1, and both Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon at 8/1. Stewart, Johnson, and Gordon have won each of the last five Indy races. Denny Hamlin (10/1) and Carl Edwards (12/1) round out the top tier on the chart.

As well, the drivers of Formula 1 get back in action on Sunday with the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest. Mark Webber won the last F1 event, the German Grand Prix on July 12, but he’s still 22.5 points behind leader Jenson Button in the drivers championship. Button has won six of the nine F1 races so far this season, with Webber’s RBR-Renault teammate Sebastian Vettel winning the other two. Heikki Kovalainen claimed the Hungarian Grand Prix last season.

Rounding out the Roundup . . .

The Liberty sit at 6-9 SU and 6-8-1 ATS through their first 15 games this year, and they’re 2-5-1 ATS at home. New York lost 91-84 in Phoenix last month….Rumors are rampant that the Anaheim Angels are ramping up their bid to acquire pitcher Roy Halladay from Toronto.
