Wednesday Free Pick

Spectacular sports handicapper  Matt Rivers has a free pick tonight’s NBA card. Rivers says take the 76ers plus 8 ½ against Orlando at BetUs Sportsbook

Here is Rivers rationale:

Dwight Howard and the Magic are coming into this season with a ton of hype and fanfare and deservedly so. The Magic really rose up last season and became a championship contender for years to come as Howard is an insane Beast down low and Orlando will have a healthy Jameer Nelson back running the point. But let’s not belittle the loss of Hedo Turkoglu who really became Stan Van Gundy’s go to guy and also the suspension to Rashard Lewis. Two key cogs from last season are not playing today for the Magic and that is beyond huge.

The 76ers are what they are, a solid team that will finish up around 500 but play tough against tough competition. Andre Iguodala has become a semi star and even with Andre Miller skipping town the boys from the City of Brotherly Love have really built up a nice little stable of good young players led by former Georgia Tech star Thaddeus Young and High School superstar Lou Williams.

Philadelphia will also get Elton Brand back after missing most of last season with the injury. I don’t expect Brand to be a huge impact player anymore but it is a positive when all is said and done.

The bottom line here is no more Turkoglu and no Lewis against a pesky Philly team that pushed Orlando a little last season a few times. If the 76ers win this game I’m not going to be all that shocked and that tells me all I need to know.
