Broncos vs. Steelers Odds Picks

It’s the absolute best time of the year for bettors. The nation’s top sports handicappers are completely humiliating oddsmakers this year, even more than in previous seasons. Meanwhile college basketball betting odds debut tonight and NBA picks can’t lose.

First and foremost is the official betting preview of the Monday Night Football contest between the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers. Shop around as Pittsburgh is a three-point favorite at Bodog and BetUs Sportsbook but SportsBook has them laying just 2.5. The total ranges from 40 to 41.

The Steelers are 5-2 straight up, but 2-5 against the spread. They are 1-2 straight up on the road, 0-3 to the number. They’ve exceeded the total in four of five.

Denver is 6-1 straight up and against the spread including 3-0 at home in both categories. The Broncos have gone under 6-of-7.

The Broncos offensive numbers are incredibly in synchronicity with what their opponents normally allow. On defense Denver allows just 3.4 yards per rush to teams normally getting 4.1 and 5.8 passing yards per attempt to teams normally getting 6.7. That amounts to the Broncos holding teams to .8 yards per play under their normal average.

The Steelers get just 4.0 yards per rush against teams normally allowing 4.3, but their passing game is incredible. They get 8.3 passing yards per attempt against teams normally allowing just 6.9 and 6.4 yards per play to 5.8.

Pittsburgh holds teams slightly under their normal average by .3 yards per rush, .4 yards per pass and .2 yards per play. The latter includes special teams.

Against the spread records: Pittsburgh is 8-2 against teams with a winning record but they are 6-20 as a favorite of three or less and they’ve dropped five straight road games. Denver has covered six straight on grass, but are 7-17 at home and 7-20 off an ATS loss.

Trouble For Sportsbooks, Lawrence Taylor, and Larry Johnson

The Monday Night Football odds offers great opportunity as the Pittsburgh Steelers play at the Denver Broncos. The Kansas City Chiefs cut RB Larry Johnson because what is being called a gay slur. Lawrence Taylor again gets arrested. The Cowboys rout the Eagles and the Saints and Colts remain undefeated.

Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Spurs play host to the Raptors, the Tar Heels get their season underway, and the Steelers hit the gridiron versus Denver.

NBA Pick

Matt Rivers has had an uncanny winning streak of 10 winning days in the last 12. Monday, this superstar has a free pick

Clippers at -1 at home against the Hornets. The line is courtesy of BetUs Sportsbook.

The rationale:

Don’t look now but the Los Angeles Clippers are not that bad. I always, well not always but these last few years believed that the Clips have had some talent but were just never able to put it all together thanks to a lot of factors including a ton of injuries.

But right now, and even without the services of top pick Blake Griffin, these guys have won three in a row and do have a bunch of talent. They actually have so much talent that a pretty good player in Al Thornton isn’t getting as much time as he did in the past. Chris Kaman has revived his career it appears and Baron Davis, Marcus Camby and Eric Gordon are all players that have to be taken very seriously.

No doubt Chris Paul is a superstar and a guy that can single handedly win ballgames but right now his Hornets are not looking like the team we have seen over the past few years and are a porous 0-4 on the road so far this season.
New Orleans is also playing for a second straight night after facing Kobe and the other Los Angeles team at Staples last night so there could be a little fatigue in the visitors corner in this thing even if there is no travel involved, save going to the hotel.

I do admit that this is not a great value because probably about as recent as a week ago we would be getting a few points at home but all in all I like the talent level on the Clips and the way they are playing and will therefore roll with them tonight against a fairly cold and currently underachieving Hornets squad.
