Sports Betting Services: Packers vs. Eagles

Against the spread NFL picks are up and the world’s top NFL sportsbook Bodog has wagering advice on the card.

Easily the marquee game in the NFL on Sunday has to be when Green Bay, which has emerged as a chic Super Bowl pick, visits Philadelphia in Kevin Kolb’s debut as the full-time Eagles starting quarterback. The Eagles are 3-point home dogs on Bodog’s NFL Odds and there will be live betting available.

Arguably no player was more impressive this preseason than Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who has emerged as the betting favorite at Bodog for 2010 MVP at 5/1 after going 41-for-53 for 470 yards with six touchdowns and no picks. Green Bay’s offense was practically unstoppable – witness the 59 points it put on the Colts. In two years as a starter during the season, Rodgers has thrown for over 8,400 yards, 58 touchdowns against 20 interceptions. If there’s one concern it’s that sometimes he holds onto the ball too long – he was sacked an NFL-high 51 times last year. The Eagles will bring pressure.

Kolb, on the other hand, wasn’t so sharp in the preseason, going 28-for-53 for 324 yards with no touchdowns and one pick. But remember last year in two starts for an injured Donovan McNabb, Kolb became the first QB in NFL history to throw for at least 300 yards in his first two starts. He has a group of targets unmatched by many teams in the league in RB LeSean McCoy, TE Brent Celek and WRs DeSean Jackson (who had eight TDs of 50 yards or longer, tying an NFL record) and Jeremy Maclin. And the Green Bay secondary, even with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Charles Woodson, has been known to be burned as the Packers gave up 29 touchdown passes last year, ranking 28th in the NFL in that category. And that doesn’t even include what Kurt Warner did in the playoffs.

The good news is that both teams are very healthy, as one would expect. Not a single starter is expected to miss the game. Eagles coach Andy Reid, a former Packer assistant, is 4-0 at home vs. Green Bay. Including playoffs, the Packers were an excellent 11-5-1 ATS last year, while Philly was 9-8.
