SAN FRANCISCO +3 New England

Yes Tom Brady is that good and New England will miss him that much. The Niners have never lost to the Patriots at home (4-0 record).

We were shocked at the success the Pats had last year without a running game, this year, we smell a .500 year. LaMont Jordan leads all Patriots’ rushers with 90 yards on the ground this season—New England is the only team in the league without a player that has at least 100 yards rushing this season.

After sacking Kansas City quarterbacks four times in the first game of 2008, the Patriots have just two in their last two contests. Meanwhile, like we said, the Niners offense is much better than the numbers dictated last year. Frank Gore continues to be a positive for San Francisco. The running back is averaging 4.9 yards per carry – significantly better than his 4.2 mark from 2007.

New England‘s defense was bad last year, now that they are spending a lot of time on the field, look for it to get worse. They allow 5.0 yards per rush to teams normally getting 4.4 and 7.4 yards per pass to 6.0.

Meanwhile, their offense gets 5.8 yards per pass attempt against teams normally allowing 7.5 and 4.8 yards per play against teams normally allowing 5.8. The only reason they are road favorites is that their name is the Patriots.
