Dolphins-Ravens Betting Preview

Sunday newspapers are essentially saying the same thing about the Ravens-Dolphins in their previews, but in conjunction with Lines-Maker.com, the top sports handicappers at OffshoreInsiders.com give the official betting preview of Baltimore-Miami.

Bookmaker has the betting odds as Baltimore laying 3.5, though at BetUs Sportsbook it’s -3 with -130 juice. The total varies at sportsbooks from 37.5-38.

The weather calls for isolated showers but for the most part it will be partly cloudy with a high near 78.

Baltimore is 11-5 straight up and a sensational 12-4 against the spread. They are 6-2 on the road going over 7-of-8 on the highway.

Miami is 11-5 straight up but just 8-8 to the number, They are 2-6 against the spread at home and have lost four straight home games to the Vegas number. The Fins have gone under eight of their last 10.

In location comparison (home team’s home stats, road team’s road stats), the numbers suggest that home field is not an advantage. Baltimore averages 25.6 points per game on the road compared to just 18.6 for Miami at home, though the more telling numbers tell us the points per game stats are deceptive.

The Fins do get 3.9 more yards per game and while they get .1 less yards per rush they do get .7 more yards per pass.

Defensively in location comparison the numbers are incredibly close, though Miami allows 16.2 more yards per game.

Overall numbers show Baltimore allows just 5.4 yards per pass to teams normally getting 6.2 and 4.7 yards per play to 5.2. However Miami gets 7.4 passing yards per attempt against teams normally allowing 6.8.

Some Vegas betting numbers, Miami has gone over 11-2 after a game with a turnover margin of +2 or better. The Fins are just 3-12 the last two years at home against the spread.

Baltimore is 1-8 their last nine to the Vegas number as road favorites. Miami is 11-24 off spread win.
