Sweat Barometer: Top College Basketball Teams to Bet on and Against

It is NBA All-Star weekend. As Joe Duffy is thriving in another winning season, at levels only he has ever achieved in NBA, let’s focus on the so-called sweat barometer in college basketball. It is the ATS standings of which teams have been the best to bet on and against.

Let’s start out with the top teams in the 2021-22 betting season. Though Middle Tennessee State and Jacksonville have the best ATS records in the country, each at 17-5 with MTSU also having a push, neither is in the top 5 in terms of ATS margin. In fact, Howard, despite a losing spread record at 9-10-1, has covered by an average of 4.7 points per game, higher than the two 17-5 squads. Howard has had a wild betting season, twice failing to cover by double-digits, yet four times covering by at least 24.5.

Arizona14-9-24.9

Now to the top teams to fade.

Rams vs. Bengals Betting Splits Crazy on the Super Bowl Total

The Rams vs. Bengals Super Bowl LVI gets underway after 6:30 ET. The current line at MyBookie has the Rams -4 with a total of 48.5. At Bovada the moneyline is -185, obviously with Los Angeles as the chalk. The openers at Betonline, the home of the opening line saw LA -3.5 and 49.5, laying -190 to win outright.

Currently 58 percent of bets and 74 percent of money is on the Rams to cover. Though the public generally prefers favorites, they often tend to bet underdogs in postseason. However, with “everyone” betting on the Super Bowl, the chalk is generally the public play.

Dichotomous splits are on the total with 66 percent of bets on the over, yet 68 percent of cash on the under. The moneyline sees 72 and 61 percent on the Rams. Sizzling and super talented NFL betting legend Joe Duffy has easily the strongest bet on the side, Stevie Vincent on the total, plus tons of prop bets at OffshoreInsiders.com

Harden-Simmons Trade, Small Odds Shift For Nets, Massive For Sixers

James Harden is headed to Philadelphia in exchange for Ben Simmons and a couple of first-round draft picks.

It’s a massive deadline day trade for both squads, and the swap has somewhat shifted the NBA Finals futures.

SportsBetting updated its title odds and Philadelphia has seen its championship chances slashed in half, if you want to gamble on sports or other things.

The 76ers had 14-1 odds before the trade, and now they are down to 7-1.

Brooklyn’s odds barely moved as they went from 4-1 to 5-1.

Golden State was the favorite yesterday and the Warriors remain in the driver’s seat following the trade.

Best College Basketball Teams to Bet on and Against this Season

Super betting site OffshoreInsiders.com breaks down the best teams to bet on and against this season in college basketball.

College basketball margin of cover standings for 2021-22.

Team       ATS Record                                           ATS margin

LSU14-46.7
Kennesaw State7-56.7

Note that Auburn is tied for the best spread mark in the nation at 14-4 but by only 4.4 points per game. They demonstrate why so many sharps balance out record with margin of cover to measure if a team is truly over or underperforming.

Now the best teams to fade in terms of margin of cover at a vetted sportsbook like Bovada

Team       ATS Record                                           ATS margin

Morgan State3-7-7.6
IUPUI4-11-7.4
Texas San Antonio5-9-6.9
Marshall3-10-2-6.3
Nevada4-10-6.1

Margin of cover is a long-time tool of original cappers used to measure the reliability of the often deceptive ATS and OU records. It is much like margin of victory, except it measures margin relative to the point spread or OU. With over-under, “overs” are listed first. Some Johnny-Come-Lately handicappers call this the sweat barometer.

Likely Next Steelers QB, Raiders Head Coach Revealed in Sportsbook Odds

With Ben Roethlisberger expected to retire, it’s anybody’s guess who will be the next quarterback of the fabled Pittsburgh Steelers franchise.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said all options were on the table in regards to his starting QB in 2022. The obvious choice is Steelers longtime backup and occasional starter, Mason Rudolph, and the odds at SportsBetting have him tabbed as the favorite.

Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers are on the list of 18 players. Cam Newton has the worst odds on the board.

Speaking of Tomlin, he was tabbed with 7-1, or +700, odds to be the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders when odds were initially released Monday. But bets have flooded in on Tomlin and now he has the second-lowest odds at 3-1.
