Yankees Most Wagers and Money to Win World Series; Updated CWS Odds

The New York Yankees might not be America’s Team, but they could be called the Gamblers’ Team.

According to data released by SportsBetting on Tuesday, the Yankees are the most wagered on team in Major League Baseball.

“As far as daily and weekly handle, the Yankees dominate the action,” SportsBetting.ag head linesman Robert Cooper said. “The Yankees are the Cowboys of baseball. They attract more bets and more money from the betting community than any other team, and it’s not even close.”

SportsBetting provided data for the three teams with the largest amount of bets and largest amount of money wagered on their World Series odds. The Yankees showed up on both lists, but they aren’t the only team to do so.

Here’s the World Series betting breakdown so far this season:

Teams with most bets taken:
1. New York Yankees
2. Philadelphia Phillies
3. Los Angeles Dodgers

Teams with most money wagered:
1. New York Yankees
2. Los Angeles Dodgers
3. Houston Astros

As far as teams bettors have no interest in backing, the Blue Jays have the dubious distinction of showing up on both lists:

Teams with fewest bets taken:
1. Toronto Blue Jays
2. Arizona Diamondbacks
3. Pittsburgh Pirates

Teams with least money wagered:
1. Miami Marlins
2. Toronto Blue Jays
3. Detroit Tigers

Warriors Historic Series Underdogs in Updated Odds

There are massive changes coming to the NBA landscape this offseason, and a changing of the perennial odds-on favorite is one of the first.

SportsBetting has updated its odds to win the NBA Finals, and Golden State is neither the favorite or co-favorite for the first time in years. The current odds list Toronto at -660 while the Warriors are +510.

To be precise, it’s been three years and 15 days (or 1,110 days) since the Warriors were anything but the favorites. Their odds did jump to +125 (Toronto -105) a couple of times leading up to Game 4, but the series odds following Game 3 opened at -110 each way.

Now that the Warriors are more than 5/1 underdogs, it marks the first time since May 25, 2016 that they’ve been in this position. That date was the day after they fell down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2016 Western Conference Finals.

Ironically, the No. 1 song on the Billboard Top 100 that week was “One Dance” by Raptors superfan, Drake.

Golden State is a 5-point underdog for Game 5 while the over/under is 211.5.

Despite this unfamiliar position, oddsmakers are expected to open the Warriors around 2/1 favorites for the 2019-20 NBA Championship odds.

New England Patriots Have Gotten Fewer Bets to win Super Bowl Than This Team

The Patriots have not received the most bets to capture another Lombardi Trophy. That distinction goes to the NFL’s trendiest team in 2019.

According to SportsBetting the Browns have incurred the most bets to win the Super Bowl.

The site started taking bets on Super Bowl LIV in late January. Cleveland’s Super Bowl odds have dropped from 25/1 to 14/1 during that timeframe.

SportsBetting also provided data regarding the three teams with the most amount of money wagered on their Super Bowl odds. New England shows up on both lists.

Here’s the Super Bowl betting breakdown through four months.

Teams with most bets taken:

1. Cleveland Browns  (odds have moved from 25/1 to 14/1)

2. Kansas City Chiefs  (odds have moved from 7/1 to 10/1)

Teams with most money wagered:

1. New England Patriots

2. Indianapolis Colts  (odds have moved from 16/1 to 14/1)

3. Chicago Bears  (odds have not changed from 14/1)

As far as teams bettors have no interest in backing, five of the six franchises reside in the South divisions. And there is one team in particular bettors are fading as the Bucs show up on both dubious lists.

Teams with fewest bets taken:

1. Tennessee Titans  (odds have not changed from 50/1)

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers  (odds have not changed from 66/1)

3. Carolina Panthers  (odds have moved from 40/1 to 50/1)

 Teams with least money wagered:
