Cowboys-Saints

Shreveport Times

The New Orleans Saints call Louisiana
home, but there’s a clash of loyalties between the Saints and the Dallas
Cowboys for local NFL fans in Shreveport-Bossier
City
. The Saints and the Dallas
Cowboys meet in an NFL preseason game at Independence Stadium in front of a nationally
televised audience Monday night. ESPN’s Monday Night Football will broadcast
the game. Dallas is only 200 miles away from Shreveport-Bossier City and has five Super Bowl championships since its inaugural
1960 season.
New Orleans is 340 miles away and has one playoff win since its
inaugural 1967 season.

Houston
Chronicle

When the Saints and Cowboys play at Shreveport,
La.
, on Monday night, New
Orleans
running back Deuce McAllister is expected to
play for the first time since tearing the anterior cruciate
ligament in his right knee Oct. 9,
2005
, against Green Bay.  Bet now through My Bookie! The latest betting odds click here

Clarion Ledger

Saints coach Sean Payton said McAllister will start and
will get a significant number of carries to see just where he is in the
recovery. The plan for McAllister will likely be similar to the one Payton had
for quarterback Drew Brees, who played three series –
he was replaced three minutes into the second quarter – in last week’s
preseason opener at Tennessee. Brees is coming back from shoulder surgery after tearing
his labrum last December in his final game with San Diego.
Brees said last week he felt the normal morning-after
soreness associated with having played the previous day, but no setbacks with
the shoulder. The Saints hope to be just as fortunate with McAllister, who
appears to have responded well to more physical practices this week. McAllister
was held out of the game against the Titans for more rest. But Payton said it’s
vital that McAllister runs against full-speed, full-contact competition. Monday
will mark the first time the Saints play McAllister and top draft pick Reggie
Bush together. “We can both save each other’s legs,”
Bush said. “We’re going to do everything we can to work together instead of
against each other. But we are going to compete.”  Bet the NFL now at -107 juice!

The Advocate

Dallas coach
Bill Parcells announced Saturday wide receiver Terrell Owens won’t suit up
against the Saints because he hasn’t practiced enough since returning from a
tender hamstring that caused him to sit out 14 consecutive days of practice.
Rookie Marques Colston has spent a lot of time
running with the first unit this week and could be making a push to take one of
the five or six receiver spots. A seventh-round draft pick from Hofstra, Colston is one of the
bigger receivers in camp at 6-foot-4 and 231 pounds and he has shown surprising
speed.

49ers-Raiders Bet now through the Greek, home of the 21 percent
sign up bonus

Exclusive report from KnockoutPicks.com

The 49ers are hoping to build on Alex’s Smith phenomenal
performance against Chicago. Look for him to play a lot and for the Niners to go all out.

Inside Bay Area

Aaron Brooks will be coach Art
Shell’s starting quarterback Sunday against the San Francisco
49ers, and he has the go-ahead to play the entire first half. That means he’ll
get the chance he’s been looking for to establish a little rhythm before
heading for the sideline. In the Raiders’ first two exhibition games, Brooks
played eight series — four in each game — and was in for one touchdown. At the
time he left, the Raiders were tied 7-7 in a game they eventually won 16-10 and
led 3-0 in a game they eventually won 16-13. During that time, the first-team
offense under Brooks never got untracked, accounting for just four first downs.
There were five three-and-out series.

Brooks was 2-for-9 passing for 28 yards and was sacked
three times for 21 yards in losses. The running game with Brooks under center
wasn’t much better with 16 carries for 56 yards, meaning in roughly a half a
game the offense produced just 63 yards of total offense. Shell said WR Jerry Porter has been cleared to make his 2006 debut.

Herald Net

Even though many of their injured starters have trickled
in during the past few days, the Seattle Seahawks won’t be anywhere near full
strength when they travel to Indianapolis
today. Defensive linemen Grant Wistrom and Rocky
Bernard, who made their training camp debuts this week, are expected to stay at
Eastern Washington
University
to continue
rehabilitating from offseason surgeries. Middle linebacker Lofa
Tatupu could make the trip, but coach Mike Holmgren said it was “unlikely” he would play because he’s
nursing a minor groin strain. Center Robbie Tobeck
won’t play following surgery to remove bone chips from his left elbow. Also
missing will be wide receiver Darrell Jackson (knee) and defensive tackle Marcus
Tubbs (Achilles), who are expected to practice for the first time next week.
Even some of the starters who do participate in Sunday’s game against the Colts
will be limited in their playing time. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck probably won’t
play much more than a quarter, and running back Shaun Alexander is also
expected to make little more than a cameo appearance. Holmgren
said that third-string quarterback Gibran Hamdan, who did not play in the preseason opener, would see
time against Indianapolis on Sunday.
The bulk of the work will go to Seneca Wallace, but David Greene might also see
some time.

Tribune Star

Middle linebacker Rob Morris (shoulder) and defensive
tackle Raheem Brock (knee) missed Friday’s morning
workout, but both should be available for the Seattle
game. Defensive tackle Corey Simon (knee), wide receiver Brandon Stokley (ankle), placekicker Adam
Vinatieri (ankle), punter Hunters Smith (groin),
defensive tackle Montae Reagor
(knee), safety Dexter Reid (shoulder), cornerback Tim Jennings (ankle) and
safety Mike Doss (calf) are not expected to play.

NFL

Jets-Redskins OVER 33

This total is incredibly low. Our official outlaw total is 34.5. The
official outlaw line is what the odds would be if there was no consideration
given to public perception and balancing the action. It is the more accurate line from the
standpoint of the bettor. Keep in mind, the lower the number, the more a
discrepancy is. It’s also a bit of a sharp versus squares games. That means most of the sharp money is going
one way and most of the sucker money the other way according to our offshore,
Vegas and “outlaw” contacts. We go with
the sharp money.

We know Chad Pennington is out for the Jets, but he is a
great nickel and dime guy. In Pennington’s absence, the snaps will be divvied
among Patrick Ramsey, whom the Jets acquired in a trade with the Redskins
during the off-season, Brooks Bollinger and the rookie Kellen
Clemens. Ramsey can certainly throw
deeper and with Bollinger they will open it up more. They are not better quarterbacks, but quicker
strike ones. They will go against a
weakened Washington secondary
without cornerbacks Shawn Springs
(abdomen), Ade Jimoh
(sternum) and Curry Burns (hamstring)
