NBA

Bobcats-Raptors

Charlotte Observer

The Bobcats’ opponent today should look very familiar—injured,
young and undersized just like they are. Chris Bosh is out the rest of the season with a thumb injury, just
as the Bobcats’ Emeka Okafor is
with a severe ankle sprain. Several are playing out of position for Toronto
(Gerald Wallace can relate), so
this should be a pretty even, if less than fascinating, matchup.

Nets-Bucks

KRT Wire

14-game winning streak in the NBA is something truly magical.
The New Jersey Nets, the Milwaukee Bucks’ opponent on Sunday afternoon at the Bradley
Center
, had such a streak broken
when they lost at home to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday. Today’s game
could be a preview of a first-round playoff series, because it’s entirely
possible the Bucks and Nets could meet in a 3-6 matchup
or maybe even a 2-7 pairing. The Nets have won two of three games from the
Bucks this season, with Milwaukee’s
only victory coming Nov. 2 in what was the Bucks’ second game of the season and
New Jersey’s season opener.

Magic-Heat

Orlando Sentinel

The Magic have upset the Dallas Mavericks and the Detroit
Pistons during its three-game winning streak. Along with the Pistons, the Magic
also have defeated division leaders Miami,
Phoenix and Denver.
F Hedo Turkoglu, who
bruised his right knee in a fall during Friday’s victory against the Pistons,
is expected to play today in Miami.
Magnetic resonance imaging Saturday was negative. The Magic have won 11 of
their past 15games. Miami has defeated
Orlando in two of their three games
this season. The Magic beat the Heat at home 80-77 on Nov. 26.

Grizzlies-Spurs

Commercial Appeal

While the Grizzlies are 0-3 against the Spurs this season,
one loss was by three points and another by just one point. San
Antonio
hasn’t lost three games in a row all season.
But the Spurs are on their third two-game skid after consecutive home losses to
Sacramento and Dallas,
which still trails the Spurs by one game for the top seed in the Western
Conference. So the Spurs have much to play for. The schedule is favorable for San
Antonio
to win the division and secure the top seed
because after tonight the Spurs’ last five games are against teams with losing
records. The Spurs’ close wins over the Grizzlies this season are in keeping
with San Antonio’s form: The Spurs have the league’s best record in games
decided by six points or less — 17-6 (.739).
