Tonight’s Schedule

There are 11 games on the NBA schedule for Wednesday, including two big Western Conference matchups: New Orleans at Dallas, and the Lakers at San Antonio. The Celtics will try to beat the Nets in Boston in key Eastern action on Wednesday, while the Pistons will be on the road in Indiana. Rounding out the slate: Chicago at Toronto, Portland at Philadelphia, Washington at New York, Utah at Oklahoma City, Miami at Milwaukee, and Sacramento at Golden State, while the Hawks will hit the west coast for a matchup in L.A. against the Clippers.

The top three teams in the country are all in action on the college hoops schedule on Wednesday night, with No. 1 Pittsburgh hosting South Florida, No. 2 Wake Forest playing at Boston College, and No. 3 Duke travelling to Georgia Tech. As well, No. 7 Michigan State will take on Penn State, while No. 8 Syracuse will get a tough test against No. 13 Georgetown. Other games involving ranked teams has No. 21 Baylor vs. Texas A&M, and No. 25 Michigan vs. Illinois.

The Ducks will be looking to shake their doldrums on Wednesday night when they play host to the defending champion Red Wings. The Ducks have won just three of six games so far in January, and now sit at 22-17-5 on the season and well back of the Sharks in the Pacific Division standings. The Red Wings are 7-1-2 over their last 10 games, and sit in first place in the Central Division at 29-7-6.

A slow Wednesday night around the National Hockey League features just three other contests, including the fading Penguins at home versus the Capitals. As well, Chicago will get a visit from Buffalo, and Ottawa will travel down to Atlanta.

No. 4 Connecticut will take the court against St. John’s Thursday night.
