MLB Betting – Giants To Earn Split With Rockies

As the NFL odds start to take over the attention in the online betting world, there are some great baseball races that are going to go down to the wire in September. One of those races will be the Nationl League Wild Card, which features two NL West teams that are neck-in-neck.

The Colorado Rockies had a two-game lead on the Giants in the Wild Card race entering the weekend but after winning two of the first three games, the Rockies lead has expanded to two games. If the Giants can win tonight, the lead will be back to where it started on Friday.

Surprisingly, the Rockies and Giants have both caught up to Los Angeles Dodgers, who at one point had an insurmountable lead. The Rockies are just 3.5 games back while the Giants are 6.5.

San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies

Barry Zito vs Jason Marquis

Some people might not believe that Jason Marquis not only has 14 wins on the season but is tied for the National League league in that category. While Marquis will attempt to become the NL’s first 15-game winner, he’s had two very different results against the Giants this season.

Baseball sports betting handicappers should note that in his first start, he earned a complete game victory back on May 2nd but on May 7th, he gave up seven runs in just six innings of work. Marquis has actually pitched better on the road this year than at home and the main reason has been his WHIP. At home, it’s at 1.42 but on the road, that number drops to 1.17.

Marquis will take on Zito, who may be one of the most overpaid players in sports but at least he’s been pitching somewhat to standard recently. The Giants have won five of his last seven starts, mostly in part to his solid pitching. Zito has given up just 11 earned runs in his last 42 innings pitched (2.36 ERA) while striking out 34 batters and walking just 12.

In his only start against the Rockies this year, Zito pitched seven shutout innings while allowing just three baserunners.

Although the Rockies are at home, the Giants need the win a little more just to keep pace. Behind Zito, look for them to get the job done.

Ravens vs. Jets MNF Odds and NFL Picks Preview

The MNF betting between the NY Jets vs. the Baltimore Ravens has Baltimore -3 at BetUs Sportsbook with a total of 32.5. 5 Dimes has an option of Baltimore -2.5 -125.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan returns to Baltimore where he has great success as defensive coordinator. The two teams run almost identical defenses.

Baltimore is off a game in which they shut out Washington, allowing 2.9 yards per carry and allowing the Skins to convert once in 11 third-down situations.

In addition to Ryan, also returning as Jets are LB Bart Scott and S Jim Leonard, two starters from the Ravens team that went to the AFC Championship contest.

Jets rookie Mark Sanchez gets the start at QB. Kellen Clemens will take over sometime in the second quarter. It is widely believed that if Sanchez plays well, he will win the starting position.

Pro Bowl C Nick Mangold missed last week, but is back for the Jets. However Pro Bowl LG Alan Faneca is out and RT Damien Woody is doubtful.

Baltimore will play their starters into the second quarter and possibly as much as a half. However veterans such as Ray Lewis, Trevor Pryce, and Ed Reed will be on snap counts. Pro Bowl LB Terrell Suggs is out.
