Pick Nation: World Champion Handicapper Betting on Stanford vs. Arizona

Sensational sports handicapper Matt Rivers has a free pick for the weekend. It’s Stanford (plus 5 ½) at Arizona at BetUs. Here is what he says:

How did Stanford play as pathetic as they did in the first half at Oregon State on Saturday? I don’t know and I never will know. All I can say is that will happen to every team every season in at least a half. The Cardinal were throughly embarassed in the first 30 minutes trailing 31-7 at the break and the game was over at that point. Jim Harbaugh’s squad though did show some character and heart in rallying back for only the 10 point loss, 38-28.

I am going to throw that last game out because Stanford is a better team than they showed and Harbaugh will certainly have his players attention and have them focused today. The Cardinal can definitely rise up and win today in Arizona making me just fine with grabbing a full handful of points. Toby Gerhart is an absolute beast running the rock and I really like young Andrew Luck.

It is not going to be easy for the 4-2 Cardinal as going on the road in-conference against Mike Stoopes quality Wildcats shouldn’t be but Arizona does not overly scare me as they have been alright this season but nothing more.

The ‘Cats are back home after three straight roadies in which they lost two of those. This has been a difficult stretch where they went to Iowa, Oregon State and Washington and now just may be a little fatigued from this rough past month. Plus they completely wet the bed late blowing that 12 point lead with around four minutes to play at Huskie Stadium. Sure Stoops’ squad could be focused and rally from that rough beat but they also could be a little depressed and somewhat pack it in ala Cal a few weeks back against USC after getting drubbed by Oregon.

Stud tight end Rob Grankowski is done for the season and this Arizona team is minus a lot of last season’s pieces including talented quarterback Willie Tuitama. They now have a sophomore quarterback in Nick Foles calling the signals and the guy has put up impressive numbers for sure since being deemed the starter a few games ago. Foles is complimented by a solid running game with Antolin and Grigsby in the backfield but all in all this is a fairly even game and after getting blasted last week Gerhart and Stanford are too good to not rebound with a vengeance.
