Free College Football Pick Against the Spread

The NCAA point spread pick Saturday is on Georgia Tech -13.5 at BetED. This comes from Matt Rivers, who was the winningest handicapper ever—nobody came close—on a large network of sites.

All the football service picks are up for Saturday. Rivers says:

Laying double digits on the road is never the overall key to success but I don’t see how Kansas is going to be able to compete today. The Jayhawks’ defense was alright last week only allowing six points but losing at home to South Dakota State was beyond dreadful and now with Paul Johnson’s triple option attack coming to town an ugly 0-2 start is pretty much a given.

Turner Gill is the new head coach of KU and he obviously had experience running that option attack at Nebraska but without much time to prepare for it and with what appears to be a dearth of blue chip athletes there is no way that Joshua Nesbitt won’t go crazy and dominate from the outset.

Todd Reesing and Kerry Meier and the bulk of the Jayhawk offense that was so high powered over the last few years are gone and leaner times with a ton of growing pains are here. Last week was probably a semi fluke in terms of the loss to a far lesser opponent but it does show how the ‘Hawks are a team with a ton of issues and going up against today’s opponent is not the recipe to straighten things out. The unconventional Tech rushing attack is tough enough for top flight teams with high quality athletes. Nesbitt, Anthony Allen, Roddy Jones and the Jackets today are going to make a lot of big plays and score in the 30’s. Gill is just trying to put his stamp on this team and cannot be preparing his squad enough for today’s opponent and that’s what it would take in order to just stay in the game.

Johnson’s defense did lose some studs in Derrick Morgan and Morgan Burnett to the NFL and it may show at times against the likes of Miami, Virginia Tech and a few others. But today, even in unfamiliar territory, I would be hard pressed to see anything other than a 35-13 type of an easy Yellow Jacket victory.

The pick: GA Tech
