Squares did great early, but the sharps were quite fine as ScoresOddsPicks goes a stunning 5-1 including Pittsburgh as the Nonconference Best Bet of the Year. Now Bodog looks at NBC Sports Football Night in America.
In part because of his performance in the final two games of last season against the Dallas Cowboys – both losses – Donovan McNabb was traded by the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason to division-rival Washington, and McNabb makes his Redskins debut Sunday night against a Dallas team he sees for the fourth time in 10 months. The Redskins are 3.5-point underdogs on Bodog’s NFL Odds, and there will be live betting available.
The Cowboys clearly are McNabb’s nemeses, as they were 3-0 against him last year and won seven of the past 10 against his Eagles. Not that the Redskins fared much better against Dallas last year, losing both games and scoring a combined six points. A 17-0 Dallas win in late December was the Cowboys-Redskins rivalry’s first shutout since Dallas’ 27-0 road win on Dec. 14, 2003. Washington went winless in the NFC East last season for the first time since 1994.
Meanwhile, Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who has been one of the big stories of the preseason for his mental tug of war with Coach Mike Shanahan, will be with the team Sunday and will play. There had been talk that Haynesworth might be traded back to Tennessee because the Redskins are tired of his malcontent attitude. Plus he’s not even in shape.
Dallas should have one of the best offenses in the league with Tony Romo, Felix Jones, Marion Barber, Miles Austin and Jason Witten, and Dallas added arguably the steal of this year’s draft in getting Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant. He will play after sitting out the entire preseason with an injury. But Dallas does have a few problems on the offensive line. Starting right tackle Marc Colombo and left guard Kyle Kosier are unlikely to play because of knee injuries. Alex Barron, acquired from the Rams this offseason, would start for Colombo and Montrae Holland for Kosier.
Dallas was 10-8 against the spread last year (including playoffs), while Washington was 7-8-1.
